M Drussel
In 2014 I began creating work in analog and digital photography. I focused the majority of my time on analog; building pinhole cameras and camera obscuras out of unconventional materials such as coconut shells and PVC pipe. Constructing functional cameras from the bottom up taught me how each piece contributes to producing a final image. Studying analog photography impacted my digital photography too, in that my perspective grew to be an intermingled view of two vastly different areas. I don’t need to rely on the camera to create an image, I already know what outcome I am aiming for from the start.
